An Open Letter to People Wanting to Recover in 2024: Find Freedom from ARFID, Binge Eating, Bulimia, Anorexia
I know that you want the suffering to stop…
…the obsessive thoughts about food, about eating, and about your bodies.
…the fear of gaining weight (anorexia, bulimia), or even not gaining enough weight (ARFID).
…the worry about eating in front of other people, as well as trying to figure out what to eat.
…the mood swings that come after you’ve stepped on the scale.
…the self-loathing and the shame.
It’s just so exhausting.
So it’s time…
Time to take the first step toward eating disorder recovery.
Time to acknowledge that you can’t do it on your own.
Time to get vulnerable and ask for help.
Time to let go of the shame.
Time to show yourself love.

Bottom line is . . . there is hope for you to recover from your eating disorder in 2024.
I remember years ago when I was in the thick of my eating disorder. I really thought that it would be impossible to recover from it. When I was living in Colorado, Texas, and California, I believed that I would suffer from eating disorder thoughts, eating disorder behaviors, and mood issues around food, eating, and body image for the rest of my life.
Then I found an experienced eating disorder therapist in San Diego, and my life changed. I added an eating disorder support group that met in San Diego, and the group, along with my amazing eating disorder therapist, provided me the help I needed to let go of eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. And I did it. I really did it.
Freedom never felt so good. 🧡
